On Wednesday, the Goldey-Beacom College softball team swept the Holy Family University. The Lightning won the first game 14-13 and picked up another victory 14-4.

Game Recap GM1:
Goldey-Beacom leads by five runs at the end of the fourth inning.
The Lightning struck first in this game when Senior Utility player Ariana Mirenda hit an RBI bunt double in the first inning to give her team a 1-0 edge.
Freshman infielder Josalyn McMillan would hit an RBI single to right field in the second to give the Bolts a 2-0 lead.
Holy Family tied the game up in the bottom of the inning with a two-run homer to left center.
In the third inning, Goldey-Beacom scored two runs ( 4-2) by an error and off an RBI double from Senior infielder Alex Lowry to push the advantage to four.
Senior infielder Bryn Bohmann broke the game wide open when she slugged a three-run homer to left field to give her team a 7-2 lead in the fourth inning.
GBC takes home a 14-13 win!
The Lightning pushed their edge to nine in the top of the fifth when they scored four runs on four hits.
Josalyn McMillan started the scoring by pushing home a run with a fielder’s choice. On the next play, McKenna Frank hit a two-run double to left center.
Junior infielder Rayna Pelcak capped off the inning with an RBI single to center field.
The Tigers punched back in the bottom of the inning, scoring four runs on four hits, and one error to slice the score to 11-6.
In the top of the sixth, Junior infielder Autumn Simpson would give GBC a 12-6 lead when she hit an RBI single to center field.
The Lightning scored two more runs in the seventh inning to give the team a 14-6 advantage.
Holy Family roared back in the bottom of the inning, scoring seven runs, but it wasn’t enough for the comeback win, as Goldey hung on to win 14-13.
Pitching Recap:
Senior pitcher Morgan McLane went seven innings, gave up 12 hits, 11 runs, nine earned runs, one walk, struck out three, hit one batter, and earned the win.
Game Recap GM2:
Goldey-Beacom leads by three runs at the end of the third inning.
The Lightning would trail by three runs after two innings of play in the second match of the day.
In the third inning, Goldey-Beacom’s bats came alive, scoring seven runs on five hits to grab a 7-3 edge.
Junior Emma Friel slugged a three-run double to left center in the inning.
Alex Lowry also smoked a two-run double in the third inning.
Holy Family would cut the lead to three (7-4) with a solo home run in the bottom of the inning.
The Lightning takes home a 14-4 win!
GBC would widen their advantage in the fourth inning by scoring five runs on five hits and three errors to extend their lead to 12-4.
Bryn Bohmann sealed a 14-4 win over the Tigers when she slapped a two-run homer to left field in the fifth.
Pitching Recap:
Junior pitcher Alesia Doctor went five innings, gave up four runs, four earned runs, one walk, struck out two, and earned the win.
