Goldey-Beacom earns a sweep versus Jefferson

On Wednesday, the Goldey-Beacom College softball team swept the  Jefferson University Rams. The Lightning won the first game 6-3 and picked up another victory 6-1.

Game Recap GM1:

Goldey-Beacom trails by one run at the end of the third inning.

The Lightning would strike first in this game when Senior pitcher Wynter Radcliffe hit an RBI single up the middle to give her team a 1-0 lead in the top of the first.

In the top of the third inning, Jefferson would grab a 2-1 advantage by scoring on an error and hitting an RBI single to the shortstop.

Two innings later, Goldey regained the lead (3-2) with an RBI single to right center from senior infielder Bryn Bohmann, and two plays she scored off an error.

The Lightning takes home an extra inning 6-3 win!

Jefferson tied the game at three in the bottom of the sixth by scoring on an error from the Bolts.

This game would go to extra innings, as in the top of the ninth inning, Goldey-Beacom would score three runs on three hits and one error.

Sophomore Utility player McKenna Frank started the scoring in the inning by hitting a two-run double to left center.

Two plays later, Bryn Bohmann smoked an RBI single through the left side of the field to give the Lightning a 6-3 edge.

Pitching Recap:

Senior pitcher Caitlyn Burch went nine innings, gave up four hits, three runs, one walk, struck out eight, and earned the win.

Game Recap GM2:

Goldey-Beacom takes home a 6-1 win!

The Lightning struck first in this game, with Senior Utility player Ariana Mirenda slugging a two-run homer to left field to give her team a 2-0 lead in the opening inning.

Junior infielder Autumn Simpson would push the Bolts’ lead to three when she scored on a fielding error in the top of the second.

In the bottom of the inning, Jefferson cut the score to 2-1, with a solo homer down the left-field line.

Two innings later, McKenna Frank slapped a two-run double to left field to give GBC a 5-1 edge.

Fast forward to the seventh inning, where Bryn Bohmann smoked a solo homer to center field to give her team a 6-1 win.

Senior pitcher Morgan McLane went seven innings, gave up five hits, one earned one run, one run, struck out ten, and earned the win.
