Our 2024-2025 season player review series continues with the University of Delaware women’s basketball team as the spotlight turns to Graduate student guard Tara Cousins.
Cousins led the team in scoring this season, with 11.2 points per game.
When the Blue Hens needed a bucket this season, Cousins was the player they went to, recording double-digits in 20 games. She also netted two games where she posted over 20 points.
The Delaware guard’s season-high in points came in a 73-65 two-overtime win over Hofstra on February 9th, when she scored 21 points. Cousins made eight of her 15 shots, drained two of four attempts from the three-point line, and hit three of four free throws.
Another highlight performance for the Hens Grad student came on January 3rd versus Drexel, where she scored 20 points. Cousins made eight of her 14 shots, nailed three of five tries from the three-point line, and hit one of two free throws.
Scoring isn’t the only skill that the Washington, D.C. native excels at; she also knows how to put teammates in a good position to score. Cousins led the team this season in assists per game with four. The UD guard recorded two games with double-digit stats in assists.
The Blue Hens Grad student had quick hands this season, landing second on the team in steals per game with 1.4.
Cousins averaged 11.2 points per game, 2.8 rebounds, and four assists in 30 games.
