The Wilmington University softball team swept the Adelphi University Panthers on Thursday, with a 6-1 win in the first game. The Cats also picked up a 7-2 victory in the second match.

Game Recap GM 1:
Wilmington University takes home a 6-1 win!
The Wildcats would light up the scoreboard first in the game when Senior catcher Bella Barnes slugged a solo home run to center field to give her team a 1-0 edge in the second inning.
Freshman Utility player Sydney Hatch pushed WilmU’s advantage to two in the top of the third when she pushed home a run with a bunt single.
Three plays later, Freshman third baseman Haley Grygo blasted a grand slam out of the park to give her team a 6-0 lead.
Adelphi would score their first run of the game in the bottom of the third inning with an RBI double to left field to pull the deficit to 6-1.
Wilmington’s pitching did the rest by only giving up one hit in the next four innings to seal a 6-1 win.
Pitching Recap:
Senior pitcher Kylee Gunkel went seven innings, gave up five hits, one run, one earned run, struck three out, and earned the win.
Game Recap GM2:
Wilmington University leads by five runs at the end of the fifth inning.
Pitching dominated in the first four innings of this game, as the two teams’ hitters only put up a combined three hits during that time.
WilmU would break through the silent streak first by scoring five runs on five runs on four hits and two errors to take a 5-0 edge.
Graduate student pitcher Delani Sheehan started the scoring off in the inning with an RBI single to left field.
Haley Grygo and Bella Barnes each recorded a two-run single in the fifth to help put their team up five.
The Panthers answered back in the sixth inning by scoring two runs to cut the deficit to 5-2.
Wilmington would get two back in the seventh when Barnes hit an RBI single and Grygo scored on an error to seal a 7-2 victory.
Pitching Recap:
Delani Sheehan went five innings, gave up five hits, two runs, two earned runs, three walks, struck out four, and earned the win.
Kylee Gunkel went two innings, gave up two hits, and struck out three.
