The Wilmington University softball team earned a split versus the Georgian Court University Lions on Wednesday. WilmU won the first game 6-1 and lost the second 6-5.

Wilmington University leads by three runs at the end of the first inning.
The Wildcats would strike first in their game by scoring three runs on two hits to take a 3-0 edge in the top of the opening inning.
The first run of the inning came when Senior outfielder Tristyn Stewart scored on a passed ball.
On the next play, Senior catcher Bella Barnes slugged a two-run homer to left field.
The Wildcats take home a 6-1 win!
Graduate student catcher Emma Zimmerman pushed Wilmington’s lead to five (5-0) when she blasted a two-run homer to left-center in the top of the second.
Two innings later, Tristyn Stewart extended WilmU’s advantage to six runs when she hit an RBI single to center field.
Georgian Court would score their first run of the game in the bottom of the sixth inning, but the Cats still took home a 6-1 win.
Pitching Recap:
Senior pitcher Kylee Gunkel went seven innings, gave up five hits, one run, one earned run, one walk, struck out two, and earned the win.
