The Wilmington University softball team swept the Post University Eagles on Saturday, with a 7-0 win in the first game. The Cats also picked up a 16-2 victory in the second match.

Game Recap GM 1:
Wilmington University leads by three runs at the end of the second inning.
The Wildcats would strike first in this game, with Senior catcher Bella Barnes hitting an RBI single up the middle to give her team a 1-0 edge in the top of the opening inning.
In the next inning, Freshman pitcher/outfielder Maddie Vollmar pushed WilmU’s advantage to 3-0 with a two-run triple to left center.
The Wildcats take home a 7-0 win!
Senior outfielder Eve Serrato extended Wilmington’s lead to four runs when she smoked a solo homer down the left-field line.
In the top of the fourth inning, the Wildcats scored three runs on four hits to take a 7-0 edge.
Freshman third baseman Haley Grygo started the scoring off in the inning by pushing home a run with a Sac Fly.
Bella Barnes and junior infielder Cassidy Zelano each hit an RBI double in the inning.
Wilmington University used three pitchers in the game, including Graduate student Delani Sheehan, who pitched 6.1 innings, gave up one hit, and one walk, struck 12 out, and earned the win.

Wilmington University leads by three runs at the end of the third inning.
Post would strike first in this game, scoring two runs in the bottom of the second to give them a 2-0 edge.
WilmU responded in the top of the third inning by scoring five runs on five hits, and one error to grab a 5-2 advantage.
Bella Barnes started the scoring off in the inning by hitting an RBI bunt single. Three plays later, she would score off a throwing error by Post’s shortstop.
Later in the inning, senior outfielder Tristyn Stewart slapped a two-run single up the middle to give her team a 5-2 lead.
WilmU leads by seven runs at the end of the fourth inning.
The scoring blitz continued for the Cats in the top of the fourth inning, where the team scored four runs on three hits to grow their edge to 9-2.
Haley Grygo started the scoring off in the inning with a two-run single to left field.
Two plays later, Graduate student catcher Emma Zimmerman knocked in a run with a bunt single.
Tristyn Stewart capped off the scoring by pushing home a run with a ground out.
Wilmington University takes home a 16-2 win!
The power in WilmU’s bats continued in the fifth inning, where the team scored seven runs on six hits to seal a 16-2 win.
Freshman Utility player Sydney Hatch joined the scoring party by mashing a two-run triple to center field.
Cassidy Zelano and Emma Zimmerman would follow with an RBI single in the inning.
Two runners came home on Maddie Vollmar’s RBI triple to left center in the fifth.
Eve Serrato capped off the inning by hitting an RBI single through the left side to seal the 16-2 victory over Post.
Pitching Recap:
Wilmington University used three pitchers in the game, including Senior pitcher Kylee Gunkel, who went 3.1 innings, gave up two hits, two runs, two earned runs, five walks, struck out five, and earned the win.
