Goldey-Beacom posts 19 runs in sweep over Caldwell

The Goldey-Beacom College baseball team swept the Caldwell University Cougars on Wednesday with a 12-3 win in the first game and a 7-5 victory in the second.

Game Recap GM1:

Goldey-Beacom leads by six runs at the end of the first inning.

The Lighting struck first in this game, as the team scored six runs on five hits to take a 6-0 edge in the bottom of the first inning.

Senior infielder Jaden Dickerson started the scoring off in the inning, with a RBI double to left center.

Later in the inning, Senior infielder Dante DiSabatino slapped a two-run double through the right side.

Two plays later, freshman infielder Brent Williams hit an RBI single to the shortstop.

Senior outfielder  Christian Petrillo capped off the inning with a two-run single to center field to give his team.

The Lightning leads by six runs at the end of the sixth ring.

Caldwell would get on the board in the top of the fifth inning by cutting the score to 6-2.

GBC picked up a run in the bottom of the inning when Senior outfielder Matt Benner smoked a RBI single up the middle to take the score to 7-2.

Jaden Dickerson would record his second RBI of the day in the sixth inning when he slapped a single up the middle to expand his team’s advantage to 8-2.

GBC takes home a 12-3 win!

Matt Benner was the man in the spotlight in the seventh inning by hitting an RBI triple to center field and, then scoring on a wild pitch to give Goldey-Beacom a 10-2 lead.

The Cougars would add a run in the top of the eighth on a fielding error to slice the deficit to 10-3.

In the bottom of the inning, Sophomore infielder Bobby Stewart made this game a 12-3 victory in one swing by slugging a homer to left field.

Pitching recap:

Goldey-Beacom used four pitchers in the game, including freshman pitcher George Starr, who pitched six innings, gave up six hits, two runs, two earned runs, two walks, struck out five, hit one batter, and earned the win.

Game Recap GM2:

Goldey-Beacom trails by one run at the end of the third inning.

Caldwell would get on the board first in the game with an RBI ground out and fielding error to give them a 2-0 lead in the opening inning.

The Lightning tied the game up at two in the second inning when Brent Williams had a two-run single, which was aided by a fielding error.

The Cougars punch back in the top of the third with a two-run homer to left field to grab a 4-2 edge.

GBC takes home a 7-5 win!

Goldey-Beacom would take their first lead of the game in the fourth, scoring five runs on three hits and one error to get an advantage of 7-4.

 Junior outfielder Anthony Charles started the scoring off in the inning by pushing home a run when he reached first base on a walk.

In the very next play, Jaden Dickerson tied the game up at four with an RBI single to right center. On the following play,  Christian Petrillo gave the Lightning a 5-4 lead by scoring on a wild pitch.

 Anthony Charles would be the next base runner to score, as he got home on a throwing error by the third baseman.

Senior infielder Braden Kolmansberger capped off the scoring with an RBI single to left field to take the score to 7-4.

The Cougars would add a run in the sixth inning by the Bolts still took home a 7-5 victory.

Pitching Recap:

Goldey-Beacom used three pitchers in the game, including junior pitcher Kory Williams, who pitched 5.2 innings, gave up five hits, five runs, four earned runs, three walks, struck out nine batters, and earned the win.

Senior pitcher Gage Bendix pitched one inning gave up two hits, and earned the save.
