The Wilmington University baseball team earned a split on Saturday versus the Chestnut Hill College Griffins. WilmU won the first game 7-6 and lost the second match 7-5.

Wilmington University leads by six runs at the end of the fifth inning.
The Wildcats struck first in this game, scoring two runs in the top of the second inning to take a 2-0 edge.
Sophomore pitcher/first baseman Chase Fleming pushed the Cats’ lead to three with an RBI single to right field in the top of the third inning.
In the fourth inning, WilmU’s advantage would expand to five runs when Senior outfielder Kory Pritchard smoked a two-run double to center field.
Senior infielder Nick Classie added to his team’s lead in the top of the fifth with a Sac Fly to take the score to 6-0.
The Wildcats lose the lead as Chestnut Hill pushes the game to extra innings.
After not lighting up the scoreboard for five innings, the Griffins bats would wake up in the bottom of the sixth with a three-run homer, and then a wild pitch pushed home a run to cut the deficit to 6-4.
The Griffins would continue their charge back by scoring two runs in the eighth to tie the game at six.
Nine innings would not be enough to find a winner in this match, as it would take till the 11th to get a victor.
Chase Fleming would be the hero in this game with an RBI single in the top of the inning, giving Wilmington a 7-6 victory.

Wilmington University used four pitchers in the game, which included Senior pitcher Dom Marotta, who went two innings, gave up one hit, and earned the win.
