Season Review: Wilmington University’s Tre Hawkins

Our 2024-2025 season player review series continues with the Wilmington University men’s basketball team, as the spotlight turns to freshman forward Tre Hawkins.

Hawkins was third on the team in scoring with 12.7 points per game this season.

The Waldorf, Maryland native was a steady point-getter for Wilmington in the season, recording double digits in 19 games. He also netted one 30-point game and two 20-point games this year.

That 30-point game was on February 5th versus Georgian Court, where the WilmU freshman made nine of his 19 shots and drained 12 of his 14 shots from the free-throw line. He also recorded a double-double by collecting 13 rebounds in the loss.

Another highlight game came on December 7th versus Goldey-Beacom, where he scored 23 points. The Wilmington forward made eight of his ten shots and seven of ten from the free-throw line.

Hawkins made his presence known around the bucket with points and rebounds, recording three double-doubles during the year.

One of the top guys for the Cats on the boards this year was Hawkins, who was second on the team in rebounds with 5.7.

Hawkins averaged 12.7 points per game, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in 28 games this season.
