Wilmington University earns a split versus East Stroudsburg

The Wilmington University softball team earned a split versus the East Stroudsburg University Warriors on Monday, as the team was defeated 3-0 in game one and won the second match 7-1.

Game Recap:

Wilmington University leads by five runs at the end of the second inning.

The Wildcats would light up the scoreboard first in this matchup by scoring five runs on four hits to take a 5-0 edge in the opening inning.

Senior outfielder Tristyn Stewart started the scoring in the inning by smacking a two-run single into play.

A couple of plays later, freshman third baseman Haley Grygo slugged a two-out, three-run homer to give her team a 5-0 lead.

The Wildcats take home a 7-1 win!

Fast forward to the top of the sixth inning, where  Senior catcher Bella Barnes slapped a two-out, two-run single to give WilmU a 7-0 advantage.

East Stroudsburg would score a run in the bottom of the inning, but the Wildcats would still take home a 7-1 victory.

Pitching Recap:

Senior pitcher Kylee Gunkel went seven innings, gave up six hits, one run, one earned run, one walk, struck out five batters, and earned the win.
