Strong pitching sends Wilmington University home with a 7-0 win versus Saint Anselm

The Wilmington University baseball team earned their sixth win of the season on Sunday, with a 7-0 win over the Saint Anselm College Hawks.

Game Recap:

Wilmington led by five runs at the end of the third inning.

The Wildcats would light up the scoreboard first in this match, as senior infielder Tristan Schoendienst kicked it off by hitting an RBI single to left field. Three plays later, Schoendienst would score on a passed ball to give his team a 2-0 lead.

Sophomore outfielder/pitcher Brandon Grygo would continue to build to WilmU’s edge (3-0) in the next inning by slapping an RBI double to left field.

Wilmington’s advantage would go to five in the third inning when sophomore outfielder D’Angelo Ponce hit a double down the left field line and senior infielder Nick Classie pushed a run home with a Sac Fly.

Wilmington would add two more runs to their lead in the bottom of the sixth inning when Sophomore pitcher/first baseman Chase Fleming pushed a run home when he earned a walk, and Tristan Schoendienst hit an RBI single to seal a 7-0 win.

Wilmington University used four pitchers in the game, which included redshirt sophomore pitcher Tyler Reinert, who went five innings, gave up three hits, three walks, struck three hitters out, and earned the win.
