Goldey-Beacom closes series with D’Youville with a 7-5 win

The Goldey-Beacom College baseball team earned their ninth victory of the season on Sunday with a 7-5 victory over the D’Youville University Saints.

Game Recap:

Goldey-Beacom trails by two runs at the end of the third inning.

D’Youville started the scoring in this game by earning a run in the first inning and then had an RBI double in the second and stole home in the top of the third inning to take a 3-0 edge.

Junior outfielder Anthony Charles would get the Lightning on the board in the bottom of the third when he pushed a runner home with a sacrifice fly to take the score to 3-1.

The Lightning takes a two-run lead at the end of the fifth inning.

Anthony Charles would come up clutch again for the Bolts as he slapped a two-run single to right field in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game up at three.

Two plays later, Jaden Dickerson would give GBC the lead (5-3) when he smoked a two-run homer to center field.

Goldey-Beacom takes home a 7-5 win!

The Saints cut the lead to one run (5-4) in the top of the sixth inning when they pushed a run home on a fielder’s choice.

Freshman infielder Brent Williams pushed Goldey-Beacom’s advantage back to two runs (6-4) in the bottom of the inning when he pushed a runner home on a sacrifice fly.

Fast forward to the top of the eighth inning, where D’Youville sliced the deficit to one run (6-5) with an RBI single.

 Senior catcher Adam McEvoy put the Lightning back up by two runs (7-5) when he blasted a lead-off solo homer to left center.

Pitching Recap:

The Lightning used five pitchers in the game, including freshman pitcher Zach Davis, who went 2.1 innings, three hits, one run, one earned run, two walks, struck out four batters, and earned the win.

Junior pitcher Logan Myers earned the save in the win by going one inning and had one strikeout.
