Goldey-Beacom takes home a split versus D’Youville

The Goldey-Beacom College baseball team earned a split on Saturday, losing the first game 7-6 and winning the second match 6-5 versus the D’Youville University Saints.

Game Recap:

The game is tied up at two at the end of the fourth inning.

D’Youville scored first in the game, pushing in a run with a Sac Fly in the opening inning to give them a 1-0 lead.

Three innings later, the Saints added another run to their advantage with an RBI double to give them a 2-0 edge.

Goldey-Beacom would get on the board in the bottom of the inning when senior catcher Adam McEvoy hit an RBI double down the left-field line to slice the deficit to 2-1.

Senior infielder Dante DiSabatino came up to the plate next and hit an RBI single to tie the game up at two.

Goldey-Beacom holds a one-run lead at the end of the fifth inning.

In the top of the fifth inning, D’Youville regained the lead (3-2) with a solo homer.

The Lightning struck back in the bottom of the inning, with senior infielder Braden Kolmansberger and freshman infielder Brent Williams each hitting an RBI double to give their team a 4-3 advantage.

GBC holds a one-run lead at the end of the sixth inning.

The Saints tied the game up at four in the top of the sixth inning with a lead-off home run.

In the bottom of the inning, Dante DiSabatino pushed in his second RBI of the game with a double down the right-field line to give the Bolts a 5-4 edge.

Goldey-Beacom takes home a 6-5 win!

D’Youville would tie the game at five in the top of the sixth by pushing in a run with a Sac Fly.

In the bottom of the inning, Senior outfielder Mitch Jolikko sealed a 6-5 victory for the Lightning with an RBI single to left field.

Pitching Recap:

Junior pitcher Nate Miller went 4.2 innings, gave up five hits, three runs, two earned runs, two walks, hit two batters, and struck out six batters.

Senior pitcher Ryan Pozo went 2.1 innings, gave up two hits, two runs, two earned runs, struck out one batter, and earned the win.
