Strong pitching and two home-runs help Goldey-Beacom take a 6-2 win over D’Youville

The Goldey-Beacom College baseball team recorded its seventh win of the season on Friday, a 6-2 victory over the D’Youville University Saints.

Game Recap:

Goldey-Beacom takes a one-run lead at the end of the first inning.

Senior infielder Jaden Dickerson would put the Lightning on the board first in the game with an RBI single that took the score to 1-0 in the bottom of the opening inning.

The Lightning leads by five runs at the end of the sixth inning.

Fast forward to the bottom of the sixth inning, where Goldey-Beacom’s lead expanded to 5-0, as the team scored four runs on two hits and one error.

Senior outfielder Mitch Jolikko started the scoring in the inning by smoking a two-run homer to center field.

Four plays later, Freshman infielder Max Lopuhovsky slugged an RBI double to left field.

Two plays later, Senior outfielder Matt Benner would push a runner home with a Sac Fly to give GBC a 5-0 edge.

GBC takes home a 6-2 win!

In the seventh and eighth innings, D’Youville knocked in runs with two lead-off solo homers to put the score at 5-2.

The Lightning’s senior catcher Adam McEvoy would lead off the bottom of the eighth with a solo home run of his own to seal a 6-2 win for his team.

Junior pitcher Kory Williams went seven innings, gave up five hits, one run, one earned run, one walk, struck out six batters, and earned the win.

Junior pitcher Kevin Dillon went two innings, gave up two hits, one run, one earned run, one walk, and two strikeouts.
