The University of Delaware men’s basketball team is moving on to the next round of the CAA Men’s Basketball Championship after holding on to beat the Stony Brook Seawolves 80-76 in the first round on Friday. The Blue Hens will now face Campbell on Saturday at 2:30 pm ET.
Senior guard Erik Timko led the team in scoring in the win with 19 points.
Four other Hens players scored in double digits: Senior forward John Camden (11), freshman guard Izaiah Pasha (15), Junior guard Cavan Reilly (13), and Senior guard Niels Lane (16).
Delaware had the advantage in multiple categories in the game, which included points in the paint (38-30), fast-break points (9-6), points off of turnovers (14-8), turnovers (7-11), blocks (5-0), steals (5-3), and assists (16-8).
UD also had the advantage in shooting, with the team boasting 55.8(29-52) and Stony Brook 50.9 (27-53). Delaware also outshot the Seawolves at the free-throw line, with the team shooting 82.4 (14-17), and Stony Brook 68.2(15-22).

Delaware leads by 16 at the end of the first half.
The Blue Hens started the game by jumping out to a 14-9 edge with 13:23 remaining in the opening period. Erik Timko and Niels Lane caused trouble for Stony Brook’s defense, scoring nine of the team’s 14 points.
Fast forward to the 2:22 minute mark, Izaiah Pasha would drain a three-pointer to push UD’s advantage to 13 points (43-30).
Delaware ended the first half by adding seven more points to their score to take a 50-34 lead into halftime.
The Blue Hens take home an 80-76 win!
The Seawolves came out chomping in the first 16 minutes and 64 seconds of the second half, and CJ Luster II led the charge by scoring 20 of the team’s 36 points to tie the score at 70 with 3:36 left in the game.
UD charged back by outscoring Stony Brook 10-6 in the final minutes of the game to seal an 80-76 victory and move on to the next round of the CAA Championship tourney. Eight of those ten points came from the free-throw line.
