The University of Delaware women’s basketball team recorded their 12th win of the season on Thursday, with a dominating 82-59 victory over the Drexel Dragons.
Senior guard Ella Wanzer led the team in scoring in the win with 19 points.
Three other Hens players scored in double digits: Sophomore center Ande’a Cherisier (18), senior guard Tara Cousins (15), and Senior guard Rebecca Demeke (11).
UD had the advantage in multiple categories in the game, which included points off of turnovers (17-12), turnovers (13-14), blocks (4-0), and assists (21-12).
The Blue Hens also had the advantage in shooting, with the team boasting 64.7(33-51) and Drexel 35.3 (24-68). UD also bested the Dragons from the three-point line, with the team shooting 55.6 (10-18) and Drexel shooting 22.7 (5-22). Delaware also outshot the Dragons at the free-throw line, with the team shooting 75.0 (6-8), and Drexel 54.5 (6-11).

Delaware holds a four-point lead at the end of the first quarter.
The Hens came out flying to start this game, as they jumped out to an 11-4 edge with 4:50 remaining in the opening period. Tara Cousins led the charge with five points and dished out an assist during that run.
Drexel punched back by outscoring UD 8-5 for the rest of the quarter to slice the deficit to four points (16-12).
UD leads by ten points at the end of the second quarter.
Rebecca Demeke, Tara Cousins, and Senior forward Chloe Wilson took over the second quarter by scoring 17 of the Blue Hens’ 25 points to give the team a 41-31 advantage at halftime.
The Blue Hens hold a 16-point lead at the end of the third quarter.
It was Ella Wanzer and Ande’a Cherisier’s show in the third quarter. The duo caused problems for Drexel, scoring 12 of UD’s 20 points to head into the fourth with a 61-45 edge.

Ella Wanzer couldn’t be stopped in the fourth quarter, scoring 12 of the Blue Hens’ 21 points to seal an 82-59 victory over Drexel.
