The Wilmington University softball team picked up wins versus the Grand Valley State Lakers (2-0), and the Saint Anselm College Hawks (5-1) on Sunday.

Wildcats take home a 2-0 win!
After two innings of no action on the scoreboard, Wilmington University would change that in the bottom of the third with Senior catcher Bella Barnes slugging a lead-off solo home run to give her team a 1-0 edge.
Three batters later, Senior outfielder Tristyn Stewart hit an RBI single up the middle to extend the Cats’ advantage to two runs.
WilmU’s pitching did the rest by only allowing three hits and no runs for the next four innings to seal a 2-0 win.
Pitching Recap:
Senior pitcher Kylee Gunkel went seven innings, gave up seven hits, four walks, struck out seven hitters, and earned the win.

Wilmington University leads by one run at the end of the second inning.
The Wildcats would strike first in this game, as Pitcher/infielder Kasey Xenidis slapped an RBI single through the right side to give her team a 1-0 edge in the top of the second.
The Wildcats take home a 5-1 victory!
Fast forward to the bottom of the fifth inning, where Saint Anselm tied the game up at one with a RBI double to right center.
Two innings later, WilmU sealed a 5-1 win by knocking in four runs on three hits.
Freshman third baseman Haley Grygo and Tristyn Stewart each pushed a run home with an RBI double in the seventh. Junior infielder Cassidy Zelano batted home two runs with a double to center field.
Pitching Recap:
Graduate student pitcher Delani Sheehan went five innings, gave up five hits, one run, one earned run, four walks, and struck seven batters out.
Freshman pitcher Karen Sickle went two innings, gave up two hits, one walk, struck out one batter, and earned the win.
