Goldey-Beacom softball sweeps St. Thomas Aquinas on Saturday

On Saturday, the Goldey-Beacom College softball team swept the St. Thomas Aquinas Spartans in two games (3-2 & 3-2).

Game Recap GM1:

Goldey-Beacom takes a two-run lead in the first inning.

Junior infielder Autumn Simpson would get the Lightning on the board first in this matchup with a two-run triple in the bottom of the opening inning to give her team a 2-0 edge.

The game is all tied at two after four innings.

 St. Thomas Aquinas scored a run in the third and fourth innings with RBI singles to tie the game at two.

GBC takes home a 3-2 win!

Fast forward to the sixth inning, where Senior infielder Alex Lowry reached first base on an error but collected an RBI when senior infielder Bryn Bohmann scored to seal a 3-2 win.

Pitching Recap:

Junior pitcher Alesia Doctor went six innings, gave up six hits, two runs, one earned run, struck out three batters, and earned the win.

Senior pitcher Caitlyn Burch went one inning and earned the save.

Game Recap GM2:

Goldey-Beacom trails by one run at the end of the sixth inning.

Pitching would dominate the early part of this game, as the first run of this match wouldn’t come to the top of the fourth inning.

The Spartans would push in the first run of the matchup with an RBI single and then two innings later, with another single to give them a 2-0 advantage in the top of the sixth.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Junior infielder Rayna Pelcak pushed in the Lightning’s first run of the game with a two-out RBI single to pull the score to 2-1.

The Lightning takes home a 3-2 win!

Senior utility player Ariana Mirenda would give Goldey a walk-off 3-2 victory when she hit a two-run inside-the-park home run down the right-field line.

Pitching Recap:

Senior pitcher Wynter Radcliffe went five innings, four hits, two runs, one run, six strikeouts, and hit one batter.

Senior pitcher Caitlyn Burch went two innings, two hits, struck out one batter, and earned the win.
