Wilmington University homers twice in Game 1 to pick up a split versus Point Park

The Wilmington University baseball team earned a split on Friday against the Point Park University Pioneers. WilmU won the first game of the doubleheader 3-0.

Wilmington holds a one-run lead at the end of the first inning.

The Wildcats would light the scoreboard first in this game when the third batter of the bottom of the first inning, freshman pitcher/outfielder Zach Frame blasted a solo home run to right field to give his team a 1-0 edge.

WilmU takes home a 3-0 win!

Fast forward to the bottom of the sixth inning, where Senior outfielder/pitcher Brandon Grygo slapped a two-run homer to center field to give the Cats a 3-0 lead.

The pitching did the rest by allowing no runs and no hits for the next three innings to seal a 3-0 victory.

Sophomore pitcher Xavier Cortez went six innings, gave up six hits, one walk, struck five batters out, and earned the win.

Sophomore pitcher/first baseman Chase Fleming went three innings, gave up three hits, one walk, struck out one batter and earned the save.
