The Wilmington University softball team earned a split versus the Florida Southern Moccasins on Wednesday with a 6-3 win in Game One, and a 3-2 loss in the second match.

Wilmington University leads by two runs at the end of the second inning.
The Wildcats would light up the scoreboard first in this game when Graduate student pitcher Delani Sheehan and senior outfielder Eve Serrato went home on an error from Florida Southern’s shortstop in the second inning to take a 2-0 lead.
The game tied at two at the end of the sixth inning.
Fast forward to the bottom of the sixth inning, where the Moccasins would tie the game at two when they scored runs on a wild pitch and RBI groundout.
WilmU takes home a 6-3 win!
In the top of the seventh inning, Wilmington would regain the lead when they scored four runs on four hits to take the score to 6-2.
Freshman third baseman Haley Grygo started the scoring in the inning with an RBI double to left center. Shortly after, Grygo advanced to third on a wild pitch, and junior infielder Cassidy Zelano scored.
Three plays later, Eve Serrato smacked a two-run double through the left side to give her team a 6-2 edge.
Florida Southern would score one run in the bottom of the inning, but WilmU would still take home a 6-3 victory.
Pitching Recap:
Senior pitcher Kylee Gunkel went 5.1 innings, gave up five hits, two runs, two earned runs, two walks, and struck out three hitters.
Freshman pitcher/outfielder Maddie Vollmar went 1.2 innings, gave up one hit, one run, one earned run, one walk, and earned the win.
