The University of Delaware women’s basketball team continues to roll by extending their winning streak to six by taking home a 60-51 victory over the Elon University Phoenix.
Senior forward Chloe Wilson led the team in scoring in the win with 15 points.
Four other Hens players scored in double digits: Senior guards Ella Wanzer (12), Rebecca Demeke (12), Tara Cousins (10), and senior forward Michelle Ojo (11).
UD had the advantage in multiple categories in the game, which included fast-break points (5-4), blocks (2-1), and assists (13-10).
The Blue Hens also had the advantage in shooting, with the team boasting 43.2 (19-44) and Elon 37.5 (21-56). UD also bested the Phoenix from the three-point line, with the team shooting 36.8 (7-19) and Elon shooting 7.1 (1-14). Delaware also outshot the Phoenix at the free-throw line, with the team shooting 78.9 (15-19), and Elon 57.1 (8-14).

Delaware trails by one point at the end of the first quarter.
The game started with Elon jumping out to an 8-3 advantage with 5:18 remaining in the opening period.
UD came charging back by outscoring the Phoenix 10-5 for the rest of the first quarter to cut the deficit to one point (14-13). Senior guard Tara Cousins had the hot hand during this run, scoring eight of the team’s points.
The Hens trail by two points at the end of the second quarter.
Elon started another period off hot by going on a 6-2 run to grab a 20-15 edge with 7:49 remaining in the first half.
Delaware would punch back by scoring seven straight points to take a 22-20 advantage with 6:28 left in the second.
The Phoenix ended the first half on a good note by outscoring the Blue Hens 8-4 to take a 28-26 lead into halftime.
UD leads by seven points at the end of the third quarter.
Rebecca Demeke and Chloe Wilson found their shot in the third quarter, as the duo scored 14 of the Hens’ 21 points to give their team a 46-39 advantage heading into the fourth.
Delaware takes home a 60-51 win!
Fast forward to the 5:55 minute mark in the fourth, where UD’s edge would go to 12 points (54-42) when Rebecca Demeke sunk a three-pointer.
Elon would fight back after that by scoring nine unanswered points to slice the deficit to three points (54-51) with 1:19 remaining in the game.
The University of Delaware would not lose their lead scoring six straight points to seal a 60-51 victory over the Phoenix. Four of the six points came from the free-throw line.
