The Wilmington University men’s basketball team earned their seventh victory of the season on Saturday with a 76-75 win over the Holy Family University Tigers.
Freshman guard Jaylin Horsey led the team in scoring in the win, with 20 points.
Senior guard Izaiah Credle recorded a double-double in the game, with 16 points and ten rebounds.
Three other Wilmington players who scored in double digits in the win were Freshman forward Tre Hawkins (13) and junior guard Justin Perez (14).
WilmU had the advantage in multiple categories in the game, including bench points (23-14), second chance points (16-12), points off of turnovers (13-6), turnovers (9-10), and steals (6-5).
The Wildcats were also the better team at the three-point line in this game, as the team shot 38.5%(10-26), and Holy Family shot 25.9%(7-27) WilmU also bested The Tigers at the free-throw line in this game, as the team shot 70.6%(24-34), and HFU shot 63.2%(12-19).

Wilmington University trails by ten points at the end of the first half.
Holy Family came out firing to start this game out, as the team took a 17-8 edge with 12:53 remaining in the opening period.
Fast forward to the 6:01 minute mark in the first half, where the Wildcats cut the deficit to seven points ( 29-22) when Justin Perez nailed a three-pointer.
The Tigers would not lose their lead, as the team outscored WilmU 18-12 for the rest of the opening half to take a 47-37 advantage into halftime.
The Wildcats take home a 76-75 victory!
Wilmington came out with a new pep in their step in the early minutes of the second half, by dashing off on a 32-14 run to grab a 69-61 lead with 7:07 remaining in the game. Freshman guard Denim Perkins, Justin Perez, Jaylin Horsey, and Tre Hawkins made it difficult for Holy Family’s defense by scoring 28 of the 32 points.
The Tigers clawed back into this game by outscoring the Cats 12-6 to slice the deficit to two points with 3:06 (75-73) left in the second half.
WilmU’s last bucket would come from a made free throw shot from junior guard Hiram Alexander, which put their edge at 76-73 with 2:13 remaining on the clock.
Holy Family wasn’t done just yet, as the team had a layup go in around the 1:55 minute mark to pull the score to 76-75.
The Tigers would miss five shots in the remaining minutes, which included a free throw shot with 56 seconds left that could have tied the game at 76.
Wilmington would hang on to win the game with a score of 76-75.
