The Goldey-Beacom College women’s basketball team earns their seventh victory of the season by defeating the University of Bridgeport Purple Knights 74-52 on Saturday.
Junior guard Rory Ciszkowski led the team in scoring in the win with 23 points. Ciszkowski also broke the program’s career record for three-pointers in this game, as she nailed six in the game to push her past Lexi Bruno’s mark of 203 with a total of 208.
Two other Goldey-Beacom players who scored in double digits in the win were Senior guard Julie Kulesza (14), and freshman forward Lydia Betz (16).
The Lightning had the advantage in multiple categories in the game, which included fast-break points (6-2), assists (18-7), turnovers (16-20), blocks (3-2), and steals (10-7).
Goldey-Beacom also had the advantage in shooting, with the team shooting 50.0% (25-50) and Bridgeport shooting 33.3% (20-60). GBC bested the Purple Knights at the three-point line as the team shot 45.8% (11-24) and Bridgeport 30.8%(4-13). Lightning was also the better team at the free-throw line in this game, as the team shot 76.5%(13-17), and the Purple Knights shot 72.7%(8-11).

Goldey-Beacom leads by 21 at the end of the first quarter.
The Lightning did not waste any time building up an advantage in this one, as the team would take a 26-5 edge to the second quarter. It was the Rory Ciszkowski and Julie Kulesza show in the first period, as the duo scored 14 of the 26 points.
The Lightning leads by 25 at the end of the first half.
Fast forward to the 6:20 minute mark, in the second quarter, where Rory Ciszkowski drained a three-pointer to push GBC’s edge to 30 points (37-7).
Goldey-Beacom would add five more points to their score in the first half to hold a 42-17 lead.
GBC leads by 20 points at the end of the third quarter.
In the early minutes of the second half, the Lightning’s advantage would continue to grow as senior guard Julie McCarron sunk a three-pointer to take the lead to 28 points (47-19) at the 8:13 minute mark.
Bridgeport would find some firepower after this with the team outscoring the Goldey 18-10 to pull the score to 57-37 heading into the fourth.
Goldey-Beacom takes home a 74-52 victory!
The three-pointers would keep sinking for the Lightning in the fourth as around the 4:15 minute mark, the team would have back-to-back ones go in from junior guard Karlee Lemon and Rory Ciszkowski to give their team a 72-45 edge.
GBC would add two more points to their score to seal a 74-52 victory over the Purple Knights.
