The University of Delaware men’s basketball team moved their record to 11-8 on the season with a 79-77 victory over Elon University Phoenix on Saturday.
Senior forward John Camden led the team in scoring in the win with 28 points.
Senior guard Niels Lane recorded a double-double in the game with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Two other Hens players scored in double digits: Senior guard Erik Timko(15), and junior guard Cavan Reilly (18).
Delaware had the advantage in multiple categories in the game, which included blocks (4-1), assists (10-9), and rebounds (35-34).
UD also had the advantage in shooting, with the team boasting 46.4(26-56) and Elon 42.6(26-61). The Blue Hens also bested the Phoenix from the three-point line, with the team shooting 40.0(10-25) and Elon shooting 26.9 (7-26). Delaware also outshot Elon at the free-throw line, with the team shooting 81.0(17-21), and the Phoenix 75.0(18-24).

Delaware came out firing in the early minutes of the opening period, taking an 11-3 edge with 15:30 remaining in the first half. The Hens were hot from the three-point line during this time, as John Camden, Erik Timko, and Cavan Reilly each drained one.
Fast forward to the 3:28 minute mark, where Reilly sunk another three-pointer to give UD a 42-29 advantage.
The Blue Hens would end the first half still rolling by scoring seven more points to take a 49-31 lead into halftime.
Delaware takes home a 79-77 win!
Fast forward to the 12:32 minute mark, where UD’s lead would balloon to 19 points (64-45) when John Camden rocked the rim with a dunk.
Elon would roar back seconds later, outscoring the Hens 30-15 to slice the deficit to five points (79-75) with 1:09 left in the game.
Then, at 38 seconds, Elon’s TJ Simpkins hit a layup to make it a two-point game (79-77), but Delaware would hang on to win by 79-77.
