The University of Delaware men’s basketball team moved their record to 10-8 on the season with an 84-74 victory over Stony Brook Seawolves on Thursday.
Senior guard Niels Lane led the team in scoring in the win with 20 points.
Three other Hens players scored in double digits: Freshman Izaiah Pasha (12), Senior forward John Camden (19), and Freshman forward Macon Emory (11).
Delaware had the advantage in multiple categories in the game, which included points in the paint (44-22), fast-break points (15-3), points off of turnovers (14-12), turnovers (10-11), steals (9-4), and rebounds (39-27).
UD also had the advantage in shooting, with the team boasting 50.0
(31-62) and Stony Brook 47.2 (25-53). Delaware also outshot the Seawolves at the free-throw line, with the team shooting 82.4
(14-17), and Stony Brook 76.2 (16-21).

The Blue Hens lead by two points at the end of the first half.
Stony Brook’s Joe Octave started this game on fire by helping his team to an 8-4 edge by scoring five points during the early minutes of the opening period.
Delaware would respond with a 7-3 run to tie the game at 11 with 13:50 remaining in the first half. Senior forward John Camden and Niels Lane were cooking during this time, scoring all seven points.
The Seawolves regained the lead by outscoring the Hens 8-3, putting the score at 19-14 with 11:22 left in the game.
In the next nine minutes and 20 seconds, the lead would bounce back and forth between the two teams, with the team with the highest edge being three points. Sophomore guard Trent Middleton Jr. gave UD some cushion when he made a free throw at the 2:01 minute mark to push their advantage to four points (37-33).
Stony Brook ended the opening period by outscoring the Hens 4-2 to slice the deficit to two points (39-37) at halftime.
Delaware takes home an 84-74 victory!
UD came out flying in the early minutes of the second half, as the team went on an 8-2 run to expand their advantage to 47-39 with 17:01 left in the game. Senior guard Erik Timko and Niels Lane made some noise during this time, with Timko scoring three points and having an assist. Lane scored two points and dished out an assist during the run.
Fast forward to the 9:06 minute mark, Freshman forward Macon Emory drained a three-pointer to give the Blue Hens a ten-point edge (65-55).
Izaiah Pasha and John Camden had the hot hand for the rest of the half, scoring ten of the team’s 19 points to seal Delaware’s 84-74 victory over Stony Brook.
