The University of Delaware men’s basketball team moved their record to 8-7 on the season with an 84-64 victory over the Monmouth Hawks
on Saturday.
Senior guards Niels Lane and Erik Timko led the team in scoring in the win with 17 points.
Two other Hens players scored in double digits: Senior forward John Camden (15), and freshman forward Macon Emory (11).
Delaware had the advantage in multiple categories in the game, which included points in the paint (32-16), fast-break points (12-2), points off of turnovers (20-5), turnovers (10-11), blocks (3-2), steals (8-3), assists (18-6), and rebounds (40-32).
UD also had the advantage in shooting, with the team boasting 51.7
(30-58) and Monmouth 32.7 (17-52). Delaware also outshot the Hawks at the three-point line, with the team shooting 52.2(12-23), and Monmouth 28.6 (6-21).

The Blue Hens lead by 24 points at the end of the first half.
Delaware came out flying as soon as the ball was tipped off by running off to a 15-7 edge with 17:10 remaining in the first half. Erik Timko and Macon Emory each sunk two shots from the three-point line during the run.
Fast forward to the 12:31 minute mark, where Timko would stay hot from the three-point line when he sunk one to give the Hens a 29-17 advantage.
UD’s offense would continue to roll for the rest of the first half, as the team outscored Monmouth 22-10 to take a 51-27 lead at halftime.
UD takes home an 84-64 victory!
Fast forward to the 12:03 minute mark in the second half, where John Camden drained a three-pointer to push the Hens advantage to 62-40.
Ten minutes and 84 seconds later, the Blue Hens continued to stay hot from the three-point line, as Erik Timko drained one to give his team an 82-59 edge with 1:19 left in the game.
UD would add two more points to their score to seal an 84-63 victory over the Hawks.
