The University of Delaware men’s basketball team moved their record to 7-4 on the season with a 92-75 victory over the Division III Misericordia University Cougars.
Senior guard Erik Timko led the Blue Hens in scoring in the win with 29 points.
Three other Hens players scored in double digits: Senior forward John Camden (14), Junior guard Cavan Reilly (11), and senior guard Niels Lane (12).
Delaware had the advantage in multiple categories in the game, which included fast-break points (17-8), points off turnovers (28-23), turnovers (15-18), blocks (5-1), steals (11-4), assists (22-16), and rebounds (33-31).
UD also had the advantage in shooting, with the team boasting 49.2 (29-59) and Misericordia 45.9(28-61). Delaware also outshot the Cougars at the free-throw line, with the team shooting 86.4(19-22), and Misericordia 63.6 (7-11).

Blue Hens lead by 13 at the end of the first half.
Delaware had the hot hand as soon as this game tipped off by taking an 11-3 advantage with 16:01 remaining in the opening half. Sophomore guard Trent Middleton Jr. did a little everything on this run, scoring two points, dishing out two assists, and collecting one rebound.
Misericordia would answer back by scoring nine straight points to take a 12-11 edge over the Hens with 13:29 left in the first half.
Fast forward to the 9:08 minute mark, where the Cougars would grab a six-point lead (25-19) when Will Anozie drained a three-point shot.
The Blue Hens would follow that by rattling off 13 straight points to take a 32-25 edge with 6:12 remaining in the opening period. Erik Timko had the hot hand during this time, scoring eight of the team’s 13 points. Timko sunk back-to-back three-pointers during the run.
UD outscored Misericordia 14-8 for the rest of the first half to hold a 46-33 advantage heading into halftime. The Hens were feeling it from the three-point line during this time, draining four shots from downtown. Cavan Reilly made two shots from the three-point line during the run.
UD takes home a 92-75 win!
The Cougars came out in the early minutes of the second half with renewed energy, as the team went on a 23-10 run, which Matt Prociak capped off by nailing a three-pointer tying the game at 56 with 12:37 left in the game.
Delaware shook off their cold start in the second half by outscoring Misericordia 17-4 to grab a 73-60 edge with 8:16 remaining in the match. Erik Timko and John Camden confused the Cougars’ defense during this run, scoring 16 of the team’s 17 points.
Junior forward Gabe Moss was big for UD in the late stretch of this game, scoring six of the team’s 19 points to seal a dominating 92-75 victory.
