The University of Delaware men’s basketball team moved their record to 5-3 on the season with a 93-80 victory over their in-state rival the Delaware State University Hornets on Tuesday.
Junior guard Cavan Reilly led the Blue Hens scoring in the win with 20 points.
Four other Hens players scored in double digits: freshman Izaiah Pasha (12), senior guard Niels Lane (12), senior guard Erik Timko (18), and Senior forward John Camden (13).
Delaware had the advantage in multiple categories in the game, which included fast-break points (12-11), blocks (4-1), and assists (24-6).
UD also had the advantage in shooting, with the team boasting 57.7
(30-52) and DSU 40.3 (27-67). The Blue Hens also bested the Hornets from the three-point line, with the team shooting 54.8(17-31) and Delaware State shooting 41.7(5-12).

The Blue Hens lead by 15 points at the end of the first half.
Delaware started the “Route 1 Rivalry” game by flying off to a 14-2 advantage with 13:47 remaining in the opening half. Senior forward John Camden and senior guard Tahron Allen were on fire from the three-point line as they drained a combined four shots for 12 points
Fast-forward to the 8:01-minute mark, when Erik Timko continued the three-point party by draining one to push the Hens to a 28-12 lead.
UD added 14 more points to its score for the rest of the first half, taking a 42-27 edge into halftime.
Delaware takes home a 93-80 win!
The Hens would continue to push their lead further away from the Hornets’ grasp, as sophomore guard Trent Middleton Jr. made a layup to give his team a 60-37 edge with 13:57 remaining in the game.
It was the Cavan Reilly show for the rest of the second half, scoring 11 of the team’s 33 points to seal a 93-80 victory.
