Takanashi scores twice in Wilmington University’s upset win over #6 Southern New Hampshire

The Wilmington University men’s soccer team earned their fifth victory of the season on Wednesday with a 4-0 win over the sixth-ranked Division II team in the nation, the Southern New Hampshire University Penmen.

Wilmington University leads by one at the end of the first half.

The Wildcats would light up the scoreboard first in this match, as Freshman forward Michiharu Takanashi found the back of the net around the 29-minute mark to give his team a 1-0 lead. Graduate student midfielder Lenny Greifenberg assisted on Takanashi’s goal.

The Wildcats take home a 4-0 win!

Michiharu Takanashi had the hot foot in this game, scoring his second goal around the 56-minute mark to push the Cats’ advantage to 2-0. Graduate student forward Theo Faillon assisted on Takanashi’s goal.

Seconds later, freshman forward Mylan Le Baut joined the scoring party by blasting the ball into the goal to extend WilmU’s edge to 3-0. Junior midfielder Tsubasa Abe assisted on Le Baut’s goal.

Faillon would seal the Wildcats’ win by hitting a penalty kick around the 70 mark to push the score to 4-0.
