Delaware leads by 14 points at the end of the first quarter.
The first touchdown of the game came on UD’s second drive of the opening period, as the team went 88 yards in eight plays to end with quarterback Zach Marker finding his wideout for a 45-yard touchdown reception to give the Blue Hens a 7-0 lead with 4:13 remaining in the first.
Sacred Heart’s drive wouldn’t answer back with a score, instead, their quarterback, John Michalski, fumbled the ball on the third play, and the Hens’ defensive lineman Ethan Saunders scooped the ball up and took in for six to give his team a 14-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.
The Blue Hens lead by 35 at the end of the second quarter.
Delaware’s next scoring drive was a clock drainer as the team washed ten minutes and 52 seconds of the board while marching 41 yards in 10 plays. The long possession would end with Saeed St. Fleur rushing for a four-yard touchdown to give his team a commanding 21-0 edge with 11:49 left in the first half.
After SHU went three and out, UD’s offense would continue to roll, with the team going 44 yards down the field in nine plays to end with Zach Marker hitting his tight end Caleb Fauria for the seven-yard touchdown catch to push the Hens lead to 28-0 with 6:36 remaining in the second quarter.
The Pioneers offense would continue to struggle by registering another three-and-out series, but it would be a completely different story for Delaware.
UD’s offense remained hot as the team rolled off 42 yards in nine plays to end with running back Quincy Watson dashing four yards to score to give his team a 35-0 advantage at the end of the first half.
UD takes home a 49-0 victory!
The third quarter was the Sean Wilson show, as the wideout was a touchdown magnet for the Hens, scoring two touchdowns in the period, helping seal a 49-0 victory for his team.
