The Wilmington University women’s soccer team earned their fifth victory of the season on Tuesday with a 2-1 win over Mercy University Mavericks.

The score all tied at one at the end of the first half.
Mercy would light up the scoreboard first in this game, as Hailey Metzger found the net to give her team a 1-0 lead near the nine-minute mark. Isabella Messina assisted on Metzger’s score.
Almost 12 minutes later, WilmU punched back by tying the game up at one when Graduate forward Jordan Siok, found her teammate Redshirt sophomore Evelyn Payne, who blasted the ball in for a score.
Wilmington University takes home a 2-1 win!
The Wildcats would secure a 2-1 victory over the Mavericks when sophomore defender Maria Leguizamon scored the game-winning game in the late minutes of the match.

The standouts in the game for the Wildcats were Jordan Siok, Maria Leguizamon, Evelyn Payne, senior defender Ellie Lawrence, senior goalkeeper Mio Nakajima, and sophomore goalkeeper Arianna Myers.
Siok had two shots, one shot at the goal, and one assist in the win.
Leguizamon had one shot, one shot at the goal, and scored one goal in the game.
Payne had four shots, two shots at the goal, and scored one goal in the win.
Lawrence had one assist in the game.
Nakajima allowed zero goals in 45 minutes and had one save in the win.
