Rushing attack accounts for 5 TDs in Blue Hens 42-13 victory over North Carolina A&T

The University of Delaware’s football team moved to 2-0 on the season on Saturday with a 42-13 victory over the North Carolina A&T Aggies.

The offensive standouts in the game for Delaware were senior quarterback Ryan O’Connor, senior running back Marcus Yarns, junior running back Jo’Nathan Silver, senior running back Quincy Watson and senior wide receiver Phil Lutz.

O’Connor completed 23 of his 41 passes for 325 yards for one touchdown and interception in the win. He also rushed for one touchdown in the game.

Yarns rushed for 40 yards on eight carries with one touchdown in the victory. 

 Silver rushed for 24 yards on seven carries with one touchdown in the win.

 Watson rushed for 15 yards on three carries with two touchdowns in the victory.

Lutz had three receptions for 95 yards with one touchdown in the game.

On the defensive side, Graduate student linebacker Dillon Trainer would lead the team in tackles with eight. The Hens had five sacks in the game, which came from junior linebacker Blake Matthews (1), junior defensive lineman Q’yaeir Price (1), Graduate student defensive lineman Ethan Saunders (1), senior defensive back Alex Villas(1), and junior defensive lineman Melkart Abou-Jaoude (1). Senior linebacker Marc Viechec snagged an interception in the win. Sophomore linebacker Gavin Moul and Villas each forced a fumble in the victory. Matthews and Saunders each recovered a fumble in the win.
