Goldey-Beacom earns first victory of the season with 4-1 win over Pitt.-Johnstown

The Goldey-Beacom men’s soccer team earned their first victory of the season on Saturday with a 4-1 win over the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown Mountain Cats.

Game Recap:

The game all tied at one after at the end of the first half.

The first goal of this match would come from Goldey-Beacom, as freshman forward Johs Herden would blast the ball for a score to give his team a 1-0 lead at the 19-minute mark. Junior midfielder Derrick Muhire assisted on Herden’s goal.

Fast forward to the 36-minute mark, where Pitt.-Johnstown’s Tristan Ralph was able to set up his teammate Jacob Palange, who tied the game at one with his goal.

Goldey-Beacom takes home a 4-1 win!

The Lightning scored first in the opening half and would do it again in the second, as at the 56-minute mark, fresh midfielder Ogün Ünal would break the tie with his score to put his team up 2-1. Junior midfielder Lucas Fernandes assisted on Ünal’s goal.

Five minutes later, Goldey-Beacom’s offense continued to cook as senior midfielder Kel Ordonez would find the net to expand his team’s lead to 3-1. Ünal assisted on Ordonez’s goal.

Then in the closing minutes of this match, Freshman midfield/forward Aaron Nelson joined the scoring party by knocking a goal in in the 83rd minute. Senior forward Pedro Maia and Freshman goalkeeper Pedro Montanes assisted on Nelson’s goal.
