The Delaware State University’s football team earned their first victory of the season on Saturday with a 17-15 win over the Sacred Heart University Pioneers.
The offensive standouts in the game for the Hornets were Sophomore quarterback Marqui Adams, senior running back Jaden Sutton, and sophomore wide receiver Kristian Tate.
Adams completed 14 of his 22 passes for 150 yards, and one touchdown in the game.
Sutton rushed for 86 yards on 13 carries in the win.
Tate had two receptions for 43 yards with one touchdown in the game.
On the defensive side, junior linebacker Charles Brown, Jr. led the team in total tackles with nine in the win. The Hornets had two interceptions in the victory, which came from Wayne Favors III (1), and freshman Christian Garrett (1). Delaware State also had two sacks, which came from junior defensive lineman Eric Montes (.5), senior linebacker Maurio Goings (.5), sophomore defensive lineman Marquise Brunson (.5), and senior defensive lineman Darren Cook (.5).
