The University of Delaware’s football team opened the 2024 season with a dominating 48-17 victory over the Bryant University Bulldogs on Thursday.
The offensive standouts in the game for Delaware were senior quarterback Ryan O’Connor, senior running back Marcus Yarns, junior running back Jo’Nathan Silver, sophomore running back Saeed St. Fleur, senior wide receiver Phil Lutz, senior wide receiver Nicholas Laboy, and senior wide receiver Jalyn Witcher.
O’Connor completed 29 of his 41 passes for 245 yards for four touchdowns in the win.
Yarns rushed for 62 yards on 12 carries with one touchdown in the victory. He also caught a touchdown in the game.
Silver rushed for 57 yards on seven carries with one touchdown in the victory.
St. Fleur rushed for 54 yards on four carries with one touchdown in the victory.
Lutz had one reception for 16 yards with one touchdown in the game.
Laboy had two receptions for eight yards with one touchdown in the game.
Witcher had five receptions for 42 yards with one touchdown in the game.
On the defensive side, Graduate student linebacker Dillon Trainer would lead the team in tackles with five. The Hens had three sacks in the game, which came from Senior defensive lineman Keyshawn Hunter (2) and junior defensive lineman Melkart Abou-Jaoude (1). Sophomore defensive back KT Seay snagged an interception in the game, Graduate Student defensive back Nic Ware forced a fumble and senior defensive back Jason Scott recovered a fumble.
