Two walk-off winners over Wilmington University send Goldey-Beacom to the next round of the CACC Tournament

Goldey-Beacom trails by two runs at the end of the fifth inning.

Wilmington University would strike first in the second game of the doubleheader, as Jack McDonald hit an RBI double down the first base line to give his team a 1-0 edge in the top of the opening inning.

WilmU would add another run to their lead in the top of the fifth inning, as Kory Pritchard would hit an RBI single to first base to push the score to 2-0.

The two teams would be locked up at three runs at the end of the seventh inning. 

Goldey-Beacom would finally get on the board in the bottom of the sixth inning, as Junior infielder Dante DiSabatino would come up with the bases loaded and get a run home with a walk to cut the score to 2-1.

Junior catcher Adam McEvoy would come up to the plate next, as he pushed in a run when he grounded out to the shortstop to tie the game at two.

Wilmington would take the lead back in the top of the seventh when Tyler Pirrung scored on a throwing error by GBC’s first baseman to give his team a 3-2 advantage.

The Lightning would respond in the bottom of the inning when sophomore outfielder Anthony Charles knocked an RBI single down the left-field line to tie the game at three.

Two innings later, Goldey-Beacom would win the game with another walk-off, as the second batter of the ninth, Kyle Walker, would smoke an RBI double to right field to give his team the 4-3 victory.

Pitching Recap:

Sophomore pitcher Nate Miller went 4.2 innings, gave up seven hits, two runs, two earned runs, two walks, and struck out four batters.

Junior pitcher Mikey Hawbaker closed out the game by going 4.1 innings, giving up four hits, one run, and one earned run, striking two batters out in a win.
