The Wilmington University softball team advances to the next stage of the CACC Tournament with a 9-1 win over Bloomfield College Bears. Wilmington will now play Bridgeport on Friday, May 3rd at 11 am ET.

Wilmington University takes a four-run lead at the end of the first inning.
Bloomfield would get on the board first in this playoff matchup, as Miya Payne hit an RBI single to left field to give her team a 1-0 in the top of the opening inning.
The Wildcats would answer back in the bottom of the inning, as the team scored five runs on seven hits to take a 5-1 lead.
Junior outfielder Gabriella Saucedo started the scoring for WilmU, as she pushed in a run with an SAC bunt to tie the game at one.
After Saucedo’s score, senior designated player Sara Miller, Graduate student infielder Sam Freeland, senior infielder Haley Downin, and junior catcher Emma Zimmerman each would record an RBI single to give their team a 5-1 edge in the bottom of the first inning.
The Wildcats take home a 9-1 win!
WilmU would continue to expand their advantage in the bottom of the second, as Sara Miler would slug a three-run homer to left-center to push the score to 8-1.
Two innings later, Sam Freeland would knock an RBI single through the left side to give her team a 9-1 advantage.
Pitching Recap:
Redshirt sophomore starting pitcher Delani Sheehan went five innings, gave up three hits, one run, one earned run, three walks, and struck out three batters in a victory.
