Goldey-Beacom locks up #2 seed in CACC Tournament with sweep over Dominican (N.Y.)

Goldey-Beacom takes a three-run lead at the end of the first inning.

The Lightning would strike first in the second game of the doubleheader, as  Garrett Musey would knock a run in with an RBI single, and Mitch Jolikko and senior outfielder Demetrius Johnson would each push in a run when they were hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to give their team a 3-0 edge in the bottom of the opening inning.

The Lightning would lead by five runs at the end of the third inning.

GBC would continue to widen their lead in the second inning, as Garrett Musey got a run home with an RBI single, and Kyle Walker pushed in a run with a Sac Bunt to give their team a 5-0 advantage.

Dominican (N.Y.) would get their first run of the game in the top of the third inning when Joseph Coppola scored on a wild pitch to slice the deficit to 5-1.

Goldey-Beacom would get that run back in the bottom of the inning when Christian Petrillo pushed a run home with a Sac Fly to center field to give his team a 6-1 edge.

 GBC takes a seven-run lead at the end of the fourth inning.

The Chargers would slice the lead to three runs (6-3) in the top of the fourth inning when Jake Chaisongkram slugged a two-run homer to center field.

Goldey-Beacom would answer back in the bottom of the inning, as the team scored four runs on three hits to take a 10-3 advantage.

Junior catcher Nick Harkins started the scoring in the bottom of the fourth, as he hit an RBI single to center field to push the Lightning’s lead to 7-3.

 Christian Petrillo would come up to the plate next, as he smoked a three-run homer to left field to give his team a 10-3 lead.

Goldey-Beacom takes home an 11-3 win!

GBC would add one more run to their lead in the sixth inning, as Senior infielder Michael Baginski hit an RBI single through the left side to give his team an 11-3 edge.

Pitching Recap:

Junior starting pitcher Wyatt Atkinson went three innings, gave up one hit, two runs, one earned run, two walks, and struck out two batters.

Junior pitcher Mikey Hawbaker came in for Atkinson, as he went three innings, gave up two hits, one run, one earned run, one walk, struck out one batter, and earned the win.

The bullpen consisted of three relievers, who combined to give up two hits, one run, one earned run, one walk, and struck out two batters.
