Goldey-Beacom picks up a sweep versus Bloomfield

The Goldey-Beacom College softball team would earn a sweep on Thursday as the team picked up two wins over the Bloomfield College Bears.

Game Recap:

Goldey-Beacom takes a five-run lead at the end of the first inning.

The Lightning would strike first in this game, as the team scored five runs on seven hits to take a 7-0 edge in the bottom of the opening inning.

Junior infielder Bryn Bohmann would get the scoring started in the first by hitting a two-run single to left field to give her team a 2-0 lead.

Two batters later,  sophomore infielder Autumn Simpson knocked a RBI single to left field to push GBC’s advantage to 3-0.

Senior catcher Gabriella Monzo would come up to bat two plays later, as she would slap a two-run single up the middle to give her team a 5-0 edge.

The Lightning holds an eight-run lead at the end of the third inning.

Goldey-Beacom would expand their lead two innings later when sophomore infielder Rayna Pelcak and freshman shortstop McKenna Frank each had an RBI double in the third to give their team an 8-0 advantage.

Goldey-Beacom takes home a 10-0 victory.

The Lightning would add two more runs to their lead in the bottom of the fourth when Autumn Simpson pushed in a run with a Sac fly and junior outfielder Bri Snover smacked a RBI single through the left side to give their team a 10-0 edge.

Pitching Recap:

Senior starting pitcher  Abigail O’Shields dominated the Bloomfield hitters, as she went five innings, gave up one hit, three walks, and struck out 11 batters in the victory.
