The Wilmington University baseball team picked up a 9-1 win over the Jefferson University Rams on Thursday.

Wilmington University takes a three-run lead in the bottom of the third inning.
The scoreboard wouldn’t have a run on it until the bottom of the third inning, where the Wildcats would score three runs on one hit and one error to take a 3-0 advantage.
Junior outfielder Kory Pritchard would step up to the plate with the bases loaded in the inning, and Pritchard would push home a run when he was hit by a pitch to take the score to 1-0.
Freshman first baseman Chase Fleming would push in the next run with a Sac Fly to push the lead to 2-0.
Junior infielder Zach Walker was up next, as he smacked an RBI single through the left side to give the WilmU a 3-0 edge.
WilmU takes a five-run lead at the end of the fifth inning.
Jefferson would get on the board in the top of the fourth inning when Joshua Lopez slugged a solo home run to center field to slice the deficit to 3-1.
Wilmington would widen their lead in the bottom of the fifth inning, where the team scored three runs on two hits and one error to take a 6-1 advantage.
Senior catcher Jack McDonald would be the first run home in the inning, as he scored on a throwing error by the Rams third baseman to push the team’s lead to 4-1.
On the next play, Kory Pritchard would score on a wild pitch to push the team’s edge to 5-1.
Five plays later, Chase Fleming would score on a wild pitch to extend Wilmington’s advantage to 6-1.
Wilmington University takes home a 9-1 win!
WilmU would continue to expand their lead in the bottom of the sixth when Chase Fleming slapped a two-run single to center field, and Senior second baseman Erik Grady sent a baserunner home with a Sac Fly to give their team a 9-1 edge.
Pitching Recap:
Senior starting pitcher Matt Warrington went eight innings, gave up six hits, one run, one earned run, one walk, struck one batter, one home run in a win.
Freshman pitcher Garrett Quinn closed out the game by going one inning, giving up one hit, and one walk.
