Adam McEvoy blasts a two-run homer in Goldey-Beacom’s 7-1 win over Chestnut Hill

The Goldey-Beacom College baseball team picked up a 7-1 victory on Tuesday versus the Chestnut Hill College Griffins.

Game Recap:

Goldey-Beacom takes a two-run lead at the end of the first inning.

The Lightning would strike first in this game, as Junior outfielder Christian Petrillo would be able to go home from a Chestnut Hill error to give his team a 1-0 edge in the top of the opening inning.

Four plays later, Sophomore outfielder Anthony Charles would push in a run with a Sac fly to right field to push the score to 2-0.

The Lightning holds a four-run lead at the end of the second inning.

Junior catcher Adam McEvoy would push the team’s lead to four (4-0) with one swing in the top of the second inning, as he would slug a two-run homer to left field.

GBC takes a six-run at the end of the fourth inning.

Goldey-Beacom would widen their lead in the top of the fourth inning when the team scored two runs on two hits and one error to take a 6-0 advantage.

Christian Petrillo would score the first run of the inning when he knocked a RBI bunt single to the pitcher to push the team’s edge 5-0.

Junior infielder Braden Kolmansberger would push in the other run in the fourth when he reached first on a fielder’s choice to give his team a 6-0 advantage.

Goldey-Beacom takes home a 7-1 win!

The Lightning would add one last run to their total in the sixth inning when Braden Kolmansberger smoked a RBI double to left center to give his team a 7-0 lead.

Chestnut Hill would score their first run of the game in the bottom of the seventh, but GBC would still take home a 7-1 victory.

Pitching Recap:

Senior starting pitcher Jake Kelchner went 5.2 innings, gave up eight hits, one run, one earned run, two walks, and struck out seven batters in a win.

Sophomore pitcher Kevin Dillon closed out the game, as he went 3.1 innings, gave up one hit, three walks, and struck out three batters.
