Goldey-Beacom picks up a 6-1 win over Chestnut Hill

The Goldey-Beacom College softball team would pick up a 6-1 win over the Chestnut Hill College Griffins on Tuesday.

Game Recap:

Goldey-Beacom trails by one run at the end of the second inning.

The first run of the game would come in the bottom of the second inning when Anastasia Watson scored on a wild pitch to give Chestnut Hill a 1-0 edge.

The Lightning holds a three-run lead at the end of the third inning.

Goldey-Beacom would answer back in the top of the third inning when the team scored four runs on three hits and one error to take a 4-1 advantage.

 Senior outfielder Hannah Davis and Junior infielder Bryn Bohmann each pushed in a run on a fielder’s choice. Two runs would score during Bohmann’s play due to a Griffins’ error to take the score to 3-1.

Two batters later, sophomore infielder Morgan Scott would push a run in when she grounded out to the shortstop to take the score to 4-1.

Goldey-Beacom takes home a 6-1 victory!

Fast forward to the sixth inning, where sophomore Emma Friel and sophomore pitcher Alesia Doctor would score on a throwing error to push GBC’s lead to 6-1.

Pitching Recap:

Junior pitcher Cat Nelson went four innings, gave up three hits, one run, one earned run, two walks, hit two batters, struck out five batters, and earned the win.

Senior starting pitcher Abigail O’Shields closed out the game by going three innings and striking out four batters.
