The Wilmington University baseball team earned a split versus the Holy Family University Tigers on Saturday with a 10-4 loss in Game One and a 2-1 win in the second match.

Wilmington University trails by one run at the end of the second inning.
Neither team could find their way on the scoreboard in the first inning, but it was a different story in the second, as Emidio Bucci would push a run home with a Sac fly to center field to give Holy Family a 1-0 lead.
WilmU ties the game at one in the fourth inning.
Two innings later, Wilmington would finally get on the board as senior second baseman Erik Grady knocked an RBI triple to right field to tie the game up at one.
The Wildcats take home a 2-1 victory!
Fast forward to the bottom of the ninth inning, where the game was tied at one and WilmU’s last chance to get this win without going to extras. The team didn’t have a lot of hits in the inning, but they found their way on base and moved through them without it.
The Wildcats had two walks in the inning, one batter reached base on an error, and the baserunner stole second during that time.
Wilmington’s only hit in the ninth came to be the game-winner, as freshman infielder Xavier Cortez smacked an RBI single down the left field to give his team a 2-1 victory.
Pitching Recap:
Senior pitcher Anthony Giordano went five innings, gave up six hits, one run, one earned run, one walk, and struck out six batters.
The bullpen consisted of three relievers, who combined to give up one walk and struck out four batters.
Senior pitcher Dom Grady closed out the game as he went two innings, struck out two batters, and earned the win.
