Goldey-Beacom scores 30 runs in sweep over Jefferson

The Goldey-Beacom College baseball team earned a sweep on Friday as the team picked up two wins versus the Jefferson University Rams with a 19-11 victory and an 11-0 triumph.

Goldey-Beacom trails by four runs at the end of the first inning.

Jefferson would strike first in this game, as the team scored four runs on three hits to take a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the opening inning. 

The highlight of the inning for the Rams came when Joshua Lopez powered a three-run homer to left field.

The Lightning would trail by three runs at the end of the second inning.

Goldey-Beacom would cut the deficit a little in the top of the second inning when Anthony Charles hit a solo home run to take the score to 4-1.

GBC trails by five runs at the end of the fourth inning.

Two innings later, the Lightning would continue to slice into the lead as Anthony Charles hit his second home run of the game, but this one would get two runners home to make the score 5-3 in the top of the fourth.

Jefferson would answer back in the bottom of the inning, as the team scored three runs on five hits and one error to widen their edge to 8-3.

One of the highlights for the Rams in the inning came when Justin Egner hit a two-run triple to left center.

Goldey-Beacom trails by two runs at the end of the fifth inning.

The Lightning would continue to claw back in this game, as the team scored three runs on two hits to take the score to 8-6.

Darin Miller started the scoring in the inning as he knocked an RBI single through the left side to take the score to 8-4.

Braden Kolmansberger would step up to the plate next, as he slugged a two-run homer to left field to cut the deficit to 8-6.

The Lightning takes a two-run lead at the end of the seventh inning.

Goldey-Beacom would take their first lead of the game in the seventh inning when junior outfielder Christian Petrillo, Garrett Musey, and Darin Miller each hit a solo home run, junior catcher  Adam McEvoy pushed in a run on a sac bunt, and junior Matt Benner slapped a two-run double down the left field line to take a 12-8 advantage.

The Rams would charge back in the bottom of the seventh by scoring two runs on four hits to slice the score to 12-10.

GBC takes home a 19-11 win!

The Lightning would continue to pad their lead in the top of the eighth, as Braden Kolmansberger hit an RBI double to left center to give his team a 13-10 advantage.

Goldey-Beacom would continue to pour on the runs in the top of the ninth, as they scored six runs on three hits to extend their edge to 19-10.

The highlights in the inning for GBC came when Darin Miller hit a three-run triple down the left field line and when Kolmansberger slugged a two-run homer to left field to give their team a 19-10 lead.

Jefferson would add one run in the bottom of the inning, but the Lightning would still take home a 19-11 win.

Pitching Recap:

Junior starting pitcher Ryan Pozo had a tough outing in this game, as he went 3.2 innings, gave up seven hits, eight runs, seven earned runs, one walk, and struck out four batters.

Sophomore pitcher Kevin Dillon came in for Pozo, as he went 3.1 innings, gave up five hits, two runs, two earned runs, struck out two batters, and earned the win.

Junior pitcher Gage Bendix closed out the game, as he went two innings, gave up one hit, one run, and one walk, struck out batters, hit one batter, and earned the save.
