Wilmington University leads by one run at the end of the first inning.
The Wildcats would make some noise in the top of the first inning in the second game of the doubleheader, as they scored five runs on five hits and one error to take a 5-0 lead.
Eve Serrato would start the scoring in the inning, as she would push in a run when she grounded out to first base to give her team a 1-0 edge.
Sara Miller would come up to plate next, as she slapped an RBI single to center field to give her team a 2-0 advantage. Two plays later, Miller would find her way home on a fielding error from the St. Thomas Aquinas catcher to push the score to 3-0.
Two batters later, senior first baseman Arianna Millan would knock a two-run single to center field to push her team’s advantage to 5-0.
The Spartans would punch back in the bottom of the first inning, as Olivia Leon hit a two-run single, and Jessica Feerick followed up with a two-run homer to cut the score to 5-4.
Wilmington University takes home a 12-4 win!
The Wildcats’ bats would come alive once again in the top of the fourth inning, where the team scored five runs on seven hits to take a 10-4 lead.
Eve Serrato pushed in her second run of the game, as she would start the scoring off in the inning with an RBI single to right field to extend the team’s edge to 6-4.
Sara Miller would continue to dominate the day, as she slammed a four-run homer to right field to give her team a 10-4 advantage.
Serrato would be back in the top of the fifth inning as she smacked a two-run double to center field to give the team a 12-4 lead.
Pitching Recap:
Starting pitcher Delani Sheehan pitched four innings, gave up five hits, four runs, and four earned runs, struck out three batters and one home run, and earned the win.
Brooke Koehler would close the game out, as she went one inning, struck one batter out, and gave up one home run.
