Goldey-Beacom picks up a split versus Southern New Hampshire

The Goldey-Beacom College softball team would earn a split on Sunday over Southern New Hampshire University as the team won the first game 3-0 and lost the second 15-4.

Game Recap:

Goldey-Beacom takes a two-run lead after the second inning.

The Lightning would light up the scoreboard first in this game, as the team scored one run on two hits and an error to take a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.

Freshman Utility player McKenna Frank started the inning with a single to the shortstop.

Two batters later, Junior infielder Alex Lowry would knock an RBI single up the middle to give her team a 1-0 edge.

GBC would continue to add to their advantage in the bottom of the second inning, where Frank would slap an RBI single to third base to push the team’s lead to 2-0.

GBC takes home a 3-0 win!

The Lightning offense would be quiet for the next two innings, but in the fifth, they would wake up to score one run on one error to grab a 3-0 edge.

Goldey did a lot of work on the bases to manufacture that run, as they had one walk, stole two bases, and reached first base on a fielding error. 

 Alex Lowry would score the lone run on a wild pitch to give her team a 3-0 advantage.

Pitching Recap:

Senior starting pitcher Abigail O’Shields had a solid day on the mound, as she went seven innings, gave up six hits, struck out five batters, and earned the win.
