The Delaware State University men’s basketball team continues on their impressive run in the MEAC Tournament, as the team would get a 71-58 upset victory over the North Carolina Central University Eagles on Friday. The Hornets will now face Howard University in the MEAC Finals at one o’clock ET on Saturday.
Freshman guard Deywilk Tavarez led the team in scoring in the win with 20 points.
Three other DSU players who scored in double-digits were sophomore guard Jevin Muniz (16), Senior guard Martaz Robinson (12), and senior forward Alston Andrews.
Junior forward Wesley Oba was locked on the boards all night, as he collected 14 rebounds.
DSU also had the advantage in shooting, with the team shooting 44.6 %(25-56) and NC Central shooting 34.4 %(22-64). The Hornets were also the better team at the free-throw line in this game, as the team shot 72.0%(18-25), and the Eagles shot 61.5%(8-13).
