Braden Kolmansberger hits a four-run homer in Goldey-Beacom’s 15-6 win over D’Youville

The Goldey-Beacom College baseball team pushed their record to 12-7 with a 15-6 win over the D’Youville University Saints on Friday.

Game Recap:

Goldey-Beacom takes a one-run lead in the bottom of the first inning.

The Lightning would get the scoring started in this matchup, as senior infielder Garrett Musey would hit an RBI single through the left side to give his team a 1-0 lead.

The Lightning’s lead grows to five after three innings.

Goldey-Beacom would continue to grow their lead in the bottom of the third inning, where they scored four runs on four hits and three errors to take a 5-0 edge.

Senior infielder Darin Miller would push in the first run of the inning when he reached first base on a fielding error by the shortstop to give his team a 2-0 edge.

On the next play, sophomore outfielder Anthony Charles would steal home to give GBC a 3-0 advantage.

Three plays later, senior third baseman Kyle Walker would get another run home when he hit a single to left field and have him advanced to second on a throwing error by the left fielder to give the Lightning a 4-0 lead.

Senior outfielder Demetrius Johnson would hit an RBI single two plays later to give his team a 5-0 edge.

GBC holds a five-run lead after the fourth inning.

D’Youville would finally get on the scoreboard in the top of the fourth inning, as the team scored two runs on two hits to slice the deficit to 5-2.

Goldey-Beacom would push the lead back up to five runs after they added two more runs in the bottom of the fourth.

Garrett Musey would come up to the plate with the bases loaded in the bottom of the fourth inning, where he would push in a run when he got hit by a pitch to give his team a 6-2 lead.

 Anthony Charles would score a wild pitch on the next play to push GBC’s advantage to 7-2.

Goldey-Beacom takes an eight-run lead at the end of the sixth inning. 

Two innings later, the Lightning’s lineup would strike again, as Garrett Musey would hit a two-run double, and Kyle Walker would slap an RBI single through the left side of the field in the sixth to give their team a 10-2 lead.

The Lightning take an 11-run lead after the eighth inning.

After being shut down for three straight innings, the Saints batters would get something going in the top of the eighth, as the team scored two runs on four hits to cut the lead to 10-4.

GBC would respond in the bottom of the inning by scoring five runs on four hits and one error to grab a 15-4 advantage.

Darin Miller would get the scoring going in this inning, as he would slap an RBI single to left field to give his team an 11-4 edge.

Four batters later, junior infielder Braden Kolmansberger would knock a four-run homer to left center to take the score 15-4.

Goldey-Beacom takes home a 15-6 win!

In the top of the ninth inning, D’Youville would get two runs home, but it wouldn’t be enough, as the Lightning would still take home a 15-6 win.

Pitching recap:

Junior starting pitcher Ryan Pozo went 7.2 innings, gave up ten hits, four runs, four earned runs, two walks, four strikeouts, hit two batters, and earned the win.

Freshman Jackson Morrissette closed out the game by pitching 1.1 innings, two hits, two runs, two earned runs, one strikeout, and one batter.
