Miller pushes in 5 RBIs in Goldey-Beacom’s sweep over Staten Island

Goldey-Beacom takes a seven-run lead after two innings of play.

After a quiet first inning, the Lightning’s lineup would strike big in the top of the second inning by scoring seven runs on six hits and an error to take a 7-0 advantage.

Braden Kolmansberger scored the first run of the game for GBC as he hit an RBI single to center field to give his team a 1-0 lead. 

Junior catcher Calen Kampes would come up next and slapped a two-run double to center to give his team a 3-0 edge.

Five plays later, Darin Miller would knock a two-run single through to the left side to extend Goldey’s advantage to 5-0.

Senior third baseman Kyle Walker would step up to the plate next and slapped a two-run double to left center to give his team a 7-0 lead.

The Lightning holds a four-lead at the end of the fourth inning.

Staten Island would finally get on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning when the team scored four runs on four hits and one error to slice the deficit to 7-4.

Goldey-Beacom would add back a run in the top of the fourth, as sophomore outfielder Anthony Charles would knock in a run when he had a sacrifice fly to give his team an 8-4 edge.

Goldey-Beacom takes home a 13-5 victory!

The Lightning would continue to widen their lead in the top of the fifth, as the team scored three runs on three hits to take an 11-4 advantage.

Junior outfielder Nathan Turner would start the scoring in the inning, as he pushed in a run with a sacrifice fly to give Goldey a 9-4 edge.

Freshman infielder Bobby Stewart would be up next, as he would slap a RBI double to left center to give his team a 10-4 lead.

The 11th run of the game for GBC would come when junior outfielder Christian Petrillo would hit an RBI triple to left center.

The Dolphins would score one run in the bottom of the sixth inning, but Goldey-Beacom would add two more runs in the seventh to take home a 13-5 victory.
