The Goldey-Beacom College baseball team would earn a sweep on Friday as the team picked up two wins over the College of the Staten Island Dolphins.
Let’s talk about Game One 8-3 win first!

Goldey-Beacom leads by three runs after the first inning.
The Lightning would waste no time getting runs on the board in this game, as they scored four runs on one hit and one error to take a 4-0 lead.
Senior infielder Darin Miller would knock in the first run of the game with a sacrifice fly to put Goldey ahead 1-0.
Four plays later, Demetrius Johnson would get on a base thanks to a throwing error by the Dolphins shortstop, which allowed two runs to score to give his team a 3-0 lead.
After a stolen base and a teammate getting hit by a pitch, junior infielder Braden Kolmansberger would step up to the plate and slap an RBI double to right field to push GBC’s edge to 4-0.
Staten Island would respond in the bottom of the first inning when AJ Vigliotti got on base by error from the Lightning’s shortstop, which allowed a run to score to cut the score to 4-1.
The Lightning leads by four runs in the second inning.
Goldey-Beacom would add another run to their lead in the top of the second inning when Darin Miller knocked in his second run of the game with a sacrifice fly to give his team a 5-1 advantage.
GBC leads by six runs at the end of the inning.
Two innings later, Goldey would continue to pour on the runs, as the team scored two runs on two hits to take a 7-1 lead.
Junior outfielder Matt Benner would score on a wild pitch on the sixth play in the top of the fourth inning to extend his team’s advantage to 6-1.
Darin Miller would continue his strong day at the plate as he knocked in his third run of the game with an RBI single to give the Lightning a 7-1 edge.
Goldey-Beacom takes home an 8-3 victory!
GBC would add another run to their total in the top of the fifth, as Braden Kolmansberger would hit an RBI single to left field to push his team’s lead to 8-1.
The Dolphins would score two runs in the bottom of the fifth, but the Lightning would cruise from there on, as the team walked away with an 8-3 win.
Pitching recap:
Senior starting pitcher Justin Jump pitched six innings, gave up six hits, three runs, two earned runs, and one walk, hit two batters, and struck out six batters.
Senior pitcher Dylan Bittle came in for Jump, as he went one inning, giving up zero hits and zero runs.
